County Children's Grants Funded-$600k

St. Louis County Children’s Service Fund Awards Two Grants to Community Alternatives-

Two programs at Community Alternatives have received grants of over $600,000, enabling a significant expansion of services.   

Jazz @ JB Raises 17k

On Saturday, June 12, 2010, over 130 people gathered in the Jewel Box at Forest Park to celebrate Community Alternatives.  The event raised over $17,000 to support the work of CA in St. Louis.

The beautiful floral arrangements of the Jewel Box provided a wonderful backdrop to the sounds of St. Louis jazz legend Jeanne Trevor and the Fourth Friday Ensemble.  

CA Featured on Cover of C3 Magazine

Community Alternatives, Inc. was recently featured on the cover of the 3rd edition of C3 Magazine for 2010.  The article interviews CA staff during a typical day of work, chronicling CA's efforts among St. Louis residents who struggle with mental illness and issues of homelessness, substance abuse, and HIV.

On Thursday, March 11th friends of Community Alternatives attended Stray Dog Theater’s production of The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds –Pulitzer Prize winner 1971

Jail Diversion Numbers Show Positive Results

Through a federal grant and partnership with the City of St. Louis, the Jail Diversion program at Community Alternatives seeks divert individuals from incarceration by linking them to appropriate mental health and substance abuse services.  

In February, new data was released covering the program to date.

Path Team honored by City

The Path Team was honored by the St. Louis City Health Department for their work and collaboration with various HIV/Aid services in St. Louis.  The award was made on World Aids Day December 1, 2009 -

St. Louis Memorializes Homeless who Died in 2009

On December 21, 2009, The Longest Night, a memorial service, was held at the Centenary Church - The homeless who died in 2009 were remembered by their neighbors and friends -There were 28 names read in honor of the dead.

CA Housing Grant Renewed for $211,333

December 29th, 2009 -- CA's Supportive Housing Program was recently awarded a renewal grant of $211,333 as part of a competitive renewal process under HUD's Continuum of Care funding.  The grant, a one-year renewal, was awarded as part of the City of St. Louis' annual funding cycle.
