Our Tikkun Anashim (Hebrew: heal the people) team is a second treatment team that operates on the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) philosophy. Funded from a variety of sources, the Tikkun team offers a community-based approach to serving clients with mental illness, many of whom may have issues with substance abuse and homelessness.
The Tikkun team serves clients who are more independent than traditional ACT clients, but may still need help overcoming symptoms of their illness and addressing other related issues, such as housing and employment. Health professionals and case managers coordinate individualized treatment plans that address health, housing, employment, and other goals a client may have.
Because of Tikkun's flexibility, the team has integrated other specific interventions within its service model. Tikkun works with a small subset of its clients on Illness Management and Recovery (IMR) which is an educational tool to help clients understand and identify symptoms of their illness while learning how to address those symptoms. Through Jail Diverson, Tikkun works with clients who committed non-violent crimes related to mental illness.
